All eyes were on Carrie Underwood at this weekend's 2013 Emmy awards, and not just because of her ridiculously expensive wardrobe choices.

The country singer paid tribute to musical icon The Beatles with a stirring cover of "Yesterday," a song she revealed she had Paul McCartney's permission to perform.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Underwood's performance at the awards show was the most-talked about thing on Twitter last night. It's not tough to see why.

Performing "Yesterday" in front of a well-known black and white photograph of The Beatles from their heyday, you could tell Underwood was singing her heart out and giving the difficult song her all. When she finished, the Emmy audience showered her with applause.
