Carrie Underwood Kicks Off 2014 Volunteering at an Animal Shelter
Miranda Lambert isn’t the only blonde country singer who serves as the patron saint of animals in need. Carrie Underwood is right there alongside her, sharing the same passion for critters. The normally glam singer even spent the first few days of 2014 volunteering at an animal shelter!
Wearing a gray hoodie and a black cap, Underwood shared a video with fans via Vine, revealing that she has been cleaning pens and even got a smidge of poop on her shoulder, all the while flashing a sheepish smile. Clearly, the ‘Blown Away’ star got her hands and her shirt dirty.
But judging from the pictures and knowing her dedication to animals, she loved every gross second of it.
After her rigorous (and incredibly successful) turn as Maria in the live production of ‘The Sound of Music’ on NBC during the holidays, Underwood is probably enjoying some downtime and decompressing in the company of animals in need.

While at the shelter, Underwood enjoyed smooches with pooches, writing: “One is trying to kiss me while one is trying to rip my scarf off! #ShelterDogs #Volunteering.”
The huge-hearted star held dogs in her arms and encouraged her fans to adopt — something Lambert is also big on. Something tells us Underwood might be talking with husband Mike Fisher about expanding their fur family soon! How could she resist?
