Hunters and gun enthusiasts will have a place to sight their rifles in the near future when Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator opens up the rifle range at the Caddo Sheriff's Regional Training Academy to the public.

Four Saturdays have been designated for the public to make use of the facility: September 24 and Oct. 1, 8, and 15.

Targets will be furnished and shooters will be assisted by state-certified firearms instructors. Participants are asked to call ahead and reserve a time to work with instructors. Shooters must provide their own ammunition, eye and ear protection, and should arrive with weapons unloaded.

The Academy is located at 15639 Highway One South, directly in front of Lock and Dam #5. To register, call the Caddo Sheriff’s Office Community Programs Division at 681-0875.
