It's hard to believe, but it's time for some Friday Night Lights again!

High School football returns to the area this Friday night, August 27 with the Bossier City Lions Club 67th Annual High School Football Jamboree!

I had to check the Bossier Lions Club Facebook page to clarify something about this Friday night's jamboree. I remembered that the jamboree in 2019 was the 66th annual games and couldn't figure how this was only the 67th, until I remembered that the 2020 jamboree, like so many other things, was cancelled due to COVID.

Regardless of how many years these previews of all the Bossier Parish High School football teams has been going, it's just good to have this event back.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Bossier Lions Club, who do so many incredible things with the funds including:

  • Award a college scholarship to a student from each Bossier Parish school
  • Send special needs children to the Louisiana Lions Camp in Leesville, La. at no charge
  • Fund free eye exams and glasses for school children who can't afford them

There are so many other things they do, but you can see just how many will benefit from this Friday night's games.

Gates will open at 4:30 pm with pre-game festivities slated to start at 5:15 pm. Admission is only $8, Children under 6 are free, with paid adult.

As always, the Bossier Lions Club Jamboree features each of the six Bossier Parish schools including Haughton, Airline, Benton, Bossier, Plain Dealing and Parkway.

It will be once again held at Airline High School and will feature three games, each only two quarters long, beginning at 5:45 pm.

The first pairing will be Parkway and Benton kicking off at 5:45 pm.  Following that game it's Bossier and Plain Dealing squaring off at approximately 7:15 pm and the nightcap between Airline and Haughton, will kick off around 8:45 pm

Bands, dance lines and cheerleaders will also be featured.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
