A mainstay for movie goers in Bossier City is no more.

Even after re-opening post COVID-19 lockdowns, the Regal Bossier Corners Cinema ceased operations last week. Employees say that the Corners Cinema employees were transferred to the Regal Boardwalk Cinema, also in Bossier City.

Regal Cinemas shut down all of their movie theatres in the US for a large chunk of the COVID pandemic, but reopened many in early 2021. However the two Bossier City locations had to wait a little bit longer to get back up and running. But both cinemas, including the now closed Corners Cinema, were able to open by July when Marvel released Black Widow.

The Corners Cinema had multiple big name openings through the fall and winter months, including other Marvel films like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. They also featured the latest Ghostbusters movie in late 2021. However none of those were apparently enough to keep the Bossier City theatre open.

The Corners Cinema once made national headlines as well.

Back in 2004, the Regal Corners Cinema in Bossier City was selected as a theatre to pre-screen Mel Gibson's film The Passion of the Christ. The theater was booked by the Central Assembly of God Church in Haughton, and had 337 members of the church pre-screen the film for two nights before it's nationwide opening.

With the closure, the Shreveport and Bossier areas are left with only two major movie theatres, as well as the Robinson Film Center in Downtown Shreveport. In addition to the Robinson, the Regal Boardwalk remains the only theatre in Bossier City, while Shreveport has Cinemark Tinseltown.
