You might recall that the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries informed us back in early May of this year that the shooting range at Bodcau Wildlife Management Area would be closed on May 16 while renovations were made and improvements to the infrastructure of the range.

LDWF told us at the time that they anticipated all the work to be completed by early September and it looks like they made good on that estimation.

We have just received word that the Bodcau Shooting Range in Bossier Parish will reopen this Saturday, September 17, giving us all the chance to enjoy shooting sports, sight in our deer rifles, and to marvel at the recent improvements.

Though it is free to use the facility, you need to remember the new rules that went into effect earlier this year regarding the use of Bodcau or any Wildlife Management Area.

Beginning June 1, 2022, visitors must have a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman's Paradise License, or a Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License to visit an LDWF WMA, Refuge, or Conservation Area, including Shooting Ranges, for any reason—boating, hiking, bird watching, berry picking, fishing, hunting, shooting, etc. The WMA Access Permit only covers access onto the property—it does NOT convey hunting or fishing privileges. Beginning July 1, 2022, all visitors must also comply with self-clearing permit guidelines. Beginning July 1, 2022, all visitors must comply with self-clearing permit guidelines.

If you need to get your WMA Access Permit or any other hunting/fishing licenses, those can be easily purchased on the LDWF website HERE.  The WMA Access Permit is only $20 per year.
