Ever wondered if you are missing out on some secret weekend getaway? Maybe it is an East Texas State Park, or a lake in Southeast Oklahoma or a weekend in Natchitoches or Hot Springs. Where do you go when you only have a few days to get away?

Memorial weekend is coming up and I would love to take a short trip and feel like I've really gotten away from it all. Short trips have a few pluses: you are close to home in case of emergency, less gas money and less time spent on the road = more time relaxing.

Tell me your favorite place to go if you only have 2-3 days. How far away is it and what are the best places to eat/see.

I have a friend who goes to Hot Springs every other weekend. She and her husband stay at the Arlington Hotel. They love live music and she says they never have to go far to find some 'Big Band' music.

What about a weekend stay at a B&B in Natchitoches and a little shopping? Do you have a favorite Bed and Breakfast?

If you have more than a couple of days and want to head to a quiet, peaceful retreat near the Buffalo River,  I recommend Bear Creek. You drive through Bear Creek to get to the cabins, literally through the water! (Very shallow, but everyone loved it!)

My family rented the Ferguson Homestead a couple summers ago and the views from the back porch are amazing, the fog rolling across the fields that meet up with a breathtaking rock bluff.

We took our 4 wheelers and rode within the 1,100 acres of the property. My neice and nephew enjoyed the cool creek and I enjoyed the serenity. It was a short drive to the Buffalo River tubing launch. While we were vacationing on Bear Creek I enjoyed my first drive in movie at Kenda Drive In Theater located on Hwy 65 in Marshall, AR. Prices are excellent, $4 for adults, $2 for children and they have good food too! Kenda Theater is just down the road from Harps, the grocery/tackle/turkey call store. . . yes, we bought two turkey calls--just because.

Now, share your favorites with me! I can't wait to find more adventures!
