In an alert just issued by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that beginning this coming Monday, March 17, 2025, the southbound outside (right) lane of LA 3 (Benton Road) from Tilman Drive to Ashland Avenue in Bossier City will be closed.

This lane closure is scheduled to be in place for approximately two weeks, and is necessary to allow crews to perform roadway repairs.

Of course, as with any work of this nature, should there be inclement weather, the scheduled work days/hours could be delayed, extended or altered in other forms.

The only suitable alternate route would have all motorists turn east onto Viking Drive and follow it to Airline and then south to Douglas Drive. Then, take Douglas back east to rejoin the southbound traffic on Benton Road.

However, with such a lengthy alternate, motorists would probably fare better just to continue southbound on Benton through the work area, noting that such could include lengthy delays as well.

And, please note the special Safety Reminder from the DOTD regarding this project:

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
