KATV-TV is reporting that Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has announced the state's casinos will be allowed to start reopening this month. At today's press conference, Governor Hutchinson said the casinos will be allowed limited reopenings on May 18th.

Casinos in the state of Arkansas have been closed down since early-to-mid March, due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. But earlier this month, large venues in Arkansas were allowed to start reopening, with restrictions. Venues were able to welcome up to 50 people, with restrictions on seating, and social distancing requirements of 6 feet per person.

As far as Arkansas casinos go, the state will allow them to initially open at 1/3 of their capacity, with what Governor Hutchinson called "stringent social distancing requirements". The Governor made the announcement today in Texarkana.

It was the first time the Governor made his daily COVID update in Texarkana, making it the first time he's delivered an update outside of Little Rock.
