The Advocare Independence Bowl between the Missouri Tigers and North Carolina Tarheels is Monday and here's quick recap of all you need to know to enjoy all the festivities.

  • The Metro PCS "Fan Fest" runs from 11am to 3pm at Fairgrounds Field.  It's FREE and open to the public of all ages with Food, Jumps, Face Painting, Games, Live Music from Windstorm.
  • The AT&T Pep Rally & Parade, featuring local Mardi Gras Krewes and participating schools' bands starts at 1:30pm on the Midway of the Louisiana State Fairgrounds and is FREE and open to the public.
  • Shuttle Service begins at 11am and runs from Pierre Bossier Mall in Bossier City and Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport and will leave every 15 minutes prior to and after the game.  Every 30 minutes during the game.  A $5 round-trip fee will apply, but all fans 12 and under can ride for free.
  • Games of the Independence Stadium will open at 2pm game day.
  • Kick off is scheduled for 4pm and will be televised nationally on ESPN2, BUT if you'd like to listen, the game and it's pre-game show will air locally from our NewsRadio 710 KEEL
  • Oh and if you were like me and wondered what a "Tarheel" is, according to MrTarHeel.com the moniker is derived from the production of naval stores-tar, pitch and turpentine-extracted from the vast pine forests of the state. (Yeah, that's what I thought too)
