A Failure to Communicate

One of my favorite games to play as a kid (besides 7 Up, which I can't remember how to play anymore) was that game you played where you whispered something around the room. It was always interesting to find out if the person at the end of the line heard what you heard.

Now days, we don't even have to play that game out loud because just texting can become a failure of communication.

What follows is an actual conversation between me and my bff about 2 years ago. We didn't even realize neither of us had the same conversation until about 4 hours after this conversation took place.

Ally: Oh, ok. Get shoes?

Me: Yeah. Hope they work.

*pause*

Me: Jnka

Ally: You ok?

Me: Feel weird but ok

Ally: ??

Me: Whaj u dong

Ally: I don't know what that means

Me: Doing

Ally: I'm even more confused now LOL

Me: Ha Wood

Ally: Doing? Are you sending me duplicate messages on purpose?

Me: Wha?

Ally: Just hanging at my place

Me: We are her

Ally: I'm at my apartment doing nothing

Me: Want to ride with me to take John home?

Ally: ??? Wood???

Me: John home. Want to ride w me to take John home

Ally: Ok what y'all gonna do?

Me: Take him home

Ally: Sure

Me: Yes
