Zac Brown Band Select ‘Roots’ as Next Single [LISTEN]
Zac Brown Band have selected "Roots," one of the songs from their newest album, Welcome Home, as their next single. Readers can press play below to hear the track, and to see its accompanying lyric video.
Welcome Home brings the Zac Brown Band back to their musical roots, sonically speaking, so the message of "Roots" is a fitting one; it's extra-appropriate that the song opens the album. In the song, Brown reflects on the band's trajectory: "Ooh, I wouldn't change a thing," he sings. "It made the man I am today."
The "Roots" lyric video is a nostalgic look back at the Zac Brown Band's career and life on the road. The video opens with footage from a Grammy Awards victory and a CMT Music Awards win, then moves into photos and video footage from the band's early days. As the lyric video progresses, viewers will see clips from a number of the band's headlining shows, including major stops at Boston's Fenway Park and in London, England, among many others.
"My roots always keep me grounded / Roots remind me where I'm from," Brown sings during the chorus of "Roots." "Even when I'm a thousand miles away from my roots / I'm home."
Welcome Home is ZBB’s fifth studio album. The band is promoting the project out on the road, on their 2017 Welcome Home Tour.
