An Ida woman was arrested by Caddo Sheriff’s deputies for driving a stolen travel trailer into a lake, then swimming away in the dark, said Sheriff Steve Prator. Sarah Jane Bridges, 27, turned herself in Thursday after she was identified as a possible suspect during an investigation by Sheriff’s Detective Michael Price.

On July 04, around 2:30 a.m. Cpl. William Manchester was traveling northbound on Hwy. 1 in Vivian when he spotted a Dodge pickup pulling a travel trailer with no lights. Deputy Manchester attempted to stop the vehicle using his emergency lights and siren, but the driver refused to stop.

The driver swerved back and forth into the oncoming lane on Mira Myrtis Road and then pulled into Noah Tyson Park where they struck several trees, a barbecue grill, and left the roadway several times while driving in the grass.

The driver then drove the truck and trailer off the boat ramp into the water and escaped into Black Bayou.

Deputies said the truck was reported stolen in Shreveport in April. The travel trailer had just been stolen from a Vivian business when it was spotted by Cpl. Manchester. Bridges was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center by Detective Price for felony theft of the trailer (over $8,000), aggravated flight, and hit and run. More charges could be filed against her in connection with the stolen truck.

Okay gang, I'm betting there might have been a little alcohol involved in this one.  Anybody want to bet against me?
