A fun, safe Halloween event is being held in Natchitoches, just a short drive down the interstate from Shreveport-Bossier.

From 5-7 p.m. October 31, Witch Way to Main Street will take place on Front Street, allowing children age 12 and younger to trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses and sponsored booths.

The event also features face-painting, Sparky the Fire Dog, tours of the 'Haunted' Natchitoches Parish Library Bookmobile, games and more.

According to a news release from the city, children must be in costume and accompanied by an adult to participate. Candy and prizes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Natchitoches police officers will be on duty to ensure children's safety.

Area businesses and organizations are encouraged to sponsor booths and games. Booths can feature interactive games, activities and/or candy distribution. Sign-up forms for Witch Way can be picked up at the Natchitoches Main Street Office at 781 Front Street. The deadline to sign up is Friday, October 21.
