Another Area Campus Closed Because of Covid Numbers

Another campus is closed because of rising COVID-19 numbers. Wiley College in Marshall, Texas has been shut down as the numbers of cases in Harrison County Texas double over the past 7 days.

The Marshall News Messenger reports Wiley College kicked off school at the beginning of August, but has been under a quarantine since August 11th because of higher case numbers. The quarantine will wrap up on Monday.

A spokeswoman told the paper: "Campus leadership instituted several precautionary measures including mandatory testing upon students' return to campus, random testing, a mandatory employee vaccination policy, and a campus-wide quarantine process. Students are also eligible to earn a $500 tuition credit for vaccinating, wearing their masks, and agreeing to learning more about how reduce the spread of COVID-19 as part of the Wiley College Safe Community Program."

Reports indicate more than 40% of Wiley College students are already vaccinated and more have gotten the first dose over the past couple of weeks.

There have been no new cases reported on campus since Saturday.
