Why Is Louisiana Laughing More Than Any Other State?
Here's a little something for those constantly throwing shade on us here in Louisiana.

We aren't listening to you! We're too busy laughing!
I'm not making this up. In a recent Infographic from boredpanda.com, we learn that when it comes to online laughter, nobody's laughing as hard as those of us here in the Bayou State!
Granted, online laughter in the United States isn't among the highest in the world, but the study shows that Louisiana residents are the most likely to express their laughter online in all of America.
To find which countries and U.S. states and cities laugh the most online, Bored Panda analyzed 30 million geotagged tweets. The study found that the Philippines laugh more than anyone in the world with almost every one in eight showing they found the humor in whatever had been tweeted on X (formerly Twitter.)
Mentalfloss.com writes:
Compare that to the United States, which came in eighth in North America: On average, Americans laughed online in just 48.6 posts per 1000, far below the continent leader, Guatemala, which scored 77.6.
It was the online usage of "Laughter Emojis" that caught the attention of researchers at Bored Panda.
In the Americas, for instance, 18 countries—among them Brazil, Argentina, and Jamaica—were found to use the Rolling on the Floor Laughing emoji () more than any other when it came to expressing their laughter online. The U.S., meanwhile, was the only country in all of North and South America to prefer the classic Face with Tears of Joy (), while Canada was one of just two (alongside Bolivia) that preferred the Grinning Squinting Face ().
While those of us here in Louisiana topped the list of online laughers, scoring 71.8, those residents of Vermont were last to find the humor in things and only scored about a third of what we registered in Louisiana with 22.8.
When it comes to specific states and their laughter, Louisiana's own Baton Rouge was the third highest in the country, behind Jarupa Valley, California and Baltimore, Maryland, scoring a whopping 78.3.
Compare that to Santa Fe, New Mexico at the bottom of the list, who scored a 22.2 and you can easily see that here in Louisiana, at least online, in spite of all our problems, we're still finding a way to laugh about life!
