White House Releases Biden’s Schedule for Louisiana Visit
President Joe Biden will be in Louisiana today. The President will be visiting the state as part of bolstering support for his American Jobs Plan. Part of that plan includes an extensive overhaul of infrastructure, not only in Louisiana but across the nation. As part of today's visit, the President will be making speeches in Lake Charles and New Orleans.
The President's plane will arrive at Chennault Airport in Lake Charles at 12:15. From there he will be joined by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards for a speech near the Calcasieu River Bridge. That speech is expected to focus on the American Jobs Plan. The bridge over the Calcasieu has become Louisiana's "poster child" for decaying infrastructure. The President's speech is scheduled to begin at 1:25.
We can't say for sure but if past visits by Presidents to the area have taught us anything it's this. Traffic in and around Chennault Airport and the Calcasieu River Bridge will likely be slow and possibly diverted to make room for the Presidential motorcade.
Mr. Biden and his entourage will depart Chennault Airport in Lake Charles at 2:30. From there he will fly to New Orleans. Air Force One is expected to touch down at Louis Armstrong International in New Orleans at about 3:20.
At 4:20 President Biden and his entourage will tour the Carrollton Water Plant where he is also expected to offer remarks on his American Jobs Plan. The President will then board Air Force One for the return trip to Joint Base Andrews at 5:40 this afternoon.
Granted, the President won't have much time to look around during his visit today, but maybe he should. We have a lot to offer including these particular things that we do better than just about anybody.
