Some overnight road work will be done over the weekend, and it means a portion of I-220 will be shut down temporarily.

Louisiana DOTD says the eastbound lanes of the interstate between Hilry Huckaby and North Market will be closed from 6 p.m. Sunday, September 18, to 6 a.m. Monday, September 19.

The closure is necessary so contractors can begin relocating temporary concrete barrier walls and installing an overhead sign truss.

Here are some suggested alternate routes:

All east bound traffic traveling on I-220 must exit at LA 173/Hilry Huckaby, Exit 5.

All east bound traffic traveling on I-20 for I-220 eastbound to remain eastbound on I-20 to Exit 26 then west on I-220 to Exit 7A US 71 / LA 1 South to Shreveport or Exit 7B US 71/ LA 1 North Texarkana.

All traffic for I-49 North to Texarkana traveling east bound I-20 to Exit 26 then west on I-220 to Exit 7B US 71 / LA1 North to Texarkana and I-49 North.

All traffic traveling south on LA 1/ US 71 to Alexandria take I-220 east to I-20 then west on I-20 to I-49/I-20 Interchange then South on I-49.

All work will be done weather permitting, and DOTD reminds you to be on the lookout for road crews and their equipment.
