Lexi For Life 5k Race: Lexi, now 26 months old, was born with the extremely rare, Tay-Sachs disease. Saturday, July 13, they’re holding the “Lexi For Life 5K Race” to raise Tay-Sachs awareness and much needed research dollars. (more)

Haughton Farmer’s Market: Booths are set up each Saturday through Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Joe Delaney Park, on the corner of West Jackson and South Maple. (more)

4th Annual Icing on the Cake Competition: This fund-raiser benefits Quota International of Shreveport and the programs it supports. This year's theme is "Greeting Cards" and features cake artists of varying skill levels, from amateur to professional. (more)

Shop Til You Drop: Bossier Civic Center. This arts and craft show has more than 80 booths offering specialty boutiques items, handcrafted items, food, clothing, jewelry, hairbows, home décor and more. Children ages 10 and younger get in free. (more)

New Movies Opening July 12: Grown Ups 2 and Pacific Rim. The first is a comedy starring Adam Sandler. Grown Ups 2 is the sequel to 2010 comedy hit Grown Ups. The second is a science fiction thriller about monsters trying to take over the world. (more)
