This chicken really should have crossed the road! If there's one thing we do well in Louisiana, it's chicken. Have you ever noticed how many fried chicken chains have originated here? Right off of the top of my head, I can think of Popeyes, Raising Cane's, Southern Classic, and Krispy Krunchy Chicken, but I'm sure there's more.

I say all of that because we like to eat chicken in Louisiana. Heck, we'll deep fry just about anything if given a chance and that's what makes what happened in Slidell, LA recently even funnier. Check out this video that the Slidell Police Department posted to their Facebook page. Yes, that's a live chicken, hanging out beside a Popeye's Chicken Restaurant. I don't know about you, but I think that's one brave chicken!

According to several of the folks commenting on the post, this isn't the first time that this particular chicken has been spotted at Popeye's. He's also been seen nearby in John Slidell Park, but Popeye's seems to be his favorite place to hang out. One person said the rooster showed up after Hurricane Ida last August and never left. In fact, he's around so much that the folks at Popeye's built him his own chicken coop. Check out the story KHOU did on 'Rocco' back in March.

While we'll admit, Popeye's is a strange place for a chicken to roost, it's pretty cool that this restaurant has its own mascot! Other people think Rocco is pretty cool, too. Even the feel-good website, The Dodo, has done a story on him. Popeye's 'Famous' Fried Chicken, indeed!
