If you love boxing, you might think about helping put on this big sporting event.
The Sports Commission is looking for volunteers to step up to help with this event which kicks off on Thursday, March 25 and runs through April 2 at the Shreveport Convention Center.
The Shreveport Bossier area is expecting more than 1,600 boxers from around the country to show up for the USA Boxing Nationals. Another 1,000 coaches and staff will also be here for this event. Because of the pandemic, this is a non-spectator event,
The boxers, coaches, and essential staff will be the only ones allowed to attend.
The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission still needs volunteers to work the following positions:
Wednesday, March 31
  • (3) Gate Personnel from (early shift) 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and (late shift) 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 1
  • (3) Gate Personnel from (early shift) 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and (late shift) 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Friday, April 2 (Good Friday)
  • (2) Sanitizing team from (one shift) 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. These volunteers will follow the policies and procedures set forth by USA Boxing to mitigate risk of Covid-19 transmission. Sanitization within the Field of Play (including fogging the rings between bouts with disinfectant solution, and other duties as needed).
