Another Vivian Road Closure: Drainage Project Starts Monday
It's becoming painfully obvious that the Vivian area has a terrible problem with drainage in the area, but the LADOTD is doing what they can to improve the issue.

You might recall that back on June 9, LA 1 was closed so that DOTD could remove a large culvert, between Northside Lane and W. Milner Street, because it is no longer functioning properly and will need immediate replacement to ensure proper drainage and the prevention of flooding and damage.
And now, in a new advisory from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we're told about another project that should improve drainage at the intersection of LA 170 (S. Pardue St.) and LA 2 (Camp Rd.) in Vivian.
Work on this project is scheduled to begin this coming Monday, June 23, and will require a full closure of the intersection. Access to all properties will be maintained during construction.
According to DOTD, this project, which should be completed in August of this year, will include the replacement of a cross drain pipe, milling to remove old asphalt, new asphalt paving, roadway striping, and other related work at the intersection and is designed to establish adequate and proper drainage through the area, helping to ensure the roadway doesn’t flood during inclement weather.
Detour signage will be in place during the intersection closure.
Of course, as with all projects of this nature, the scheduled work days and closure could be postponed, extended or altered in other ways due to a number of issues including inclement weather.
