The soft-serve margarita craze has been taking over my social feeds all summer, but I’ll be honest, I was a little late to the party. How had this boozy, frozen perfection been trending everywhere without me actually trying it for myself?

If you’ve somehow managed to miss this viral sensation that’s dominating TikTok, it’s essentially a standard summer ice cream run made strictly for adults.

Unlike traditional frozen margaritas that rely on crushed ice blended in a machine, these treats are poured straight from a soft-serve machine. The result? An ultra-creamy, airy, soft-serve consistency that feels more like gourmet soft-serve ice cream than a cocktail. Most spots swirl in vibrant flavors like mango, strawberry, or key lime, usually finished off with a salty-spicy Tajín rim.

The only real catch? It goes down way too easy. You’ll be sitting there thoroughly enjoying what feels like a childhood ice cream treat, and bam, before you know it, that tequila hits and you're far too tipsy to drive! This definitely takes the classic "sadness tub of ice cream" concept to a whole new level, so keeping yourself to a strict two-drink limit is probably a wise move.

I finally gave into the hype during a recent stop at Pedro’s Tacos & Tequila Bar in Bossier City. Normally, I go to Pedro’s for their incredible in-house made tortillas and sizzlin' fajitas (seriously, sign me up for those fresh corn tortillas any day of the week). But on this visit, a colorful soft-serve machine caught my eye and I couldn't resist ordering the Watermelon Peach Swirl.

One sip, or spoonful, really, and my only regret was not making advance plans to call out of work the next day. Because honestly, who doesn't love a sweet treat that lets us feel like kids again, just with a generous splash of adult happy juice mixed in?

Have you hunted down the viral soft-serve margs around town yet? Which local spots are serving the best flavor combinations? Let me know where I need to head next!

Pedros is located at 2400 Airline Drive in Bossier.
