Veteran’s Ceremony Honors Ten Local Heroes
Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking at one of the most incredible ceremonies I've ever attended. It was the Veteran's Honor Ceremony at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds.
At the ceremony, ten local heroes were honored by the cities of Shreveport and Bossier City and by Caddo and Bossier Parishes for not only their service to their country through their military accomplishments, but their service to their community through their civilian lives. Each and every story about their lifelong achievements got more and more incredible.
One honoree, Ray Urban, had even sky dived at the tender, young age of 90 and another, Carroll Michaud, was just honored Friday by Congressman John Fleming for his work 40 years ago on what is now, GPS.
As America stands at attention for all our Veterans today, I will always hold a special salute for these ten.
Those honored yesterday include:
Printice A. Darnell - Staff Sergeant, US Army Veteran
George C. Finck - Lieutenant Colonel, USAF Veteran
Sandra (Sandy) J. Franks - Senior Master Sergeant, USAF Veteran
Kenneth P. Coval - Chief Master Sergeant, USAF Veteran
Carroll Michaud - Major, USAF Veteran
Brenda R. Nelson - Lieutenant Colonel, USAF Veteran
Willie Robinson - US Army Veteran
Ray U. Urban - US Marine Corps Veteran
George Edward Reliford - Specialist 5, US Army Veteran (posthumous award)
Bryan R. Bell - Senior Airman, USAF Veteran (posthumous award)
