I hate that my first night with the Twin City Knockers I broke my leg. It was a freak accident, and I am still recovering. Don't let my accident discourage you from giving this sport a shot. I wish I could give it another try. This is a great organization.

According to their event page on Facebook, the Twin City Knockers roller derby team will be hosting a new recruit night next Monday, February 5th. The location is set at the Highland Center Ministries on Olive Street in Shreveport. Be there by 6 pm with some water and mouth guard and get ready to derby.

When I went to see what roller derby was like I got hurt. Broke my leg and completely dislocated my ankle joint. I did this while learning how to fall properly in "derby". You have to push to fall on your knees so that your knee pads catch your weight. I didn't I fell straight on my ankle. My mother insists that I just have weak ankles from dancing since I was a kid, but I think it was just a freak accident.

I repeat: Don't let my accident discourage you from giving this sport a shot!
