Folks are waking up to begin the cleanup. Many didn't sleep all night or were left homeless because of the storm damage.

This storm system that moved through Shreveport Bossier Monday night pushed its way into south Louisiana on Tuesday afternoon and evening causing widespread flooding and power outages.

Several videos have been posted of the approaching tornado and the devastating aftermath.

This tornado has left at least one person dead and several other people were hurt. Many businesses and homes were destroyed.

The tornado was spotted at about 7pm Tuesday night as most of the severe weather was beginning to move out of the state. But that quickly changed with multiple tornado warnings and widespread power outages.

The damage from the storm is widespread in the 9th Ward and in St. Bernard Parish.

Search and rescue efforts have been going on all night.

St. Bernard Parish President Guy McInnis says the one confirmed death is a person in Arabi in St. Bernard Parish.
