Strong thunderstorms blew through Shreveport/Bossier around 12:30am Thursday morning moving East across Northeast Texas and Northwest Louisiana with strong wind gusts reaching 35mph. At 9:00am Swepco.com reports outages for Caddo Parish numbering at just under 5,490 with Bossier around 7,400.

The brunt of the cold front hitting our area has yet to peak and we're already experiencing some problems with electricity. As of 7:25 this morning more than 1,000 SWEPCO customers in Caddo Parish were without power and additional outages are being reported on Swepco's Outages Map in Bossier Parish and Desoto Parish and in portions of East Texas and Southern Arkansas.
AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is trying to prevent blackouts in the Shreveport area due to the high demand for electricity during this miserable heat. The message from SWEPCO is for us to turn off unnecessary lights, set our thermostats to 80 and try to use fans to supplement our excessive heat problems.
