Traditionally in the U.S., Memorial Day is the official beginning of summer.  But in the SBC summer starts on Thursday when Mudbug Madness kicks off at Festival Plaza in Shreveport. The smell of freshly boiled crawfish will permeate all of downtown when The 33rd Annual Mudbug Madness Festival - Presented by Centerpoint Energy - opens Thursday, May 26.

Mudbug Madness is right around the corner. During a typical festival run, thousands of pounds of crawfish are cooked up for our enjoyment. But what life lesson can we learn from them?

With Mudbug Madness getting underway this Thursday, May 21, at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport, it occurred to us that there might be a few things that even the most seasoned Cajun might not know about our crustacean companion, the old Mudbug!

It's Mudbug Madness week here in Northwest Louisiana!  What began in 1984 as a two-day street festival in downtown Shreveport is now one of Louisiana’s largest and most popular Cajun festivals in the entire state.
