We play "Today's Hit Country" on the radio, and of course this great song from Randy Travis would probably qualify as yesterday's hit country. Still, it's a good one and it truly is still on my personal playlist.

The Texas Country Music scene is full of incredible music that just doesn't get alot of mainstream attention. While Hayes Carll is flying under the mainstream radar, he is revered in the Texas Music scene as a classic singer-songwriter.

I get asked all the time, "what are you listening to?" and for once I can say the same thing back as an answer. This week on my iPod is Chris Stapleton with music so good you'll want to slap your mama.

With Kiss Country Fest 2015 fast approaching (it's this Saturday May 9th) I thought it would be a great time to revisit the opening act... Black Water Bride!

This is one of my favorite songs ever and it's from the early days of Kenny Rogers career when he had a band called Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. It's become popular in recent years from it's use in the movie The Big Lebowski.

This is the second time I've featured Sturgill Simpson's music on my "Bandit's iPod" segment, but then again, I told you I was going to do that. His music is just too damn good not to!

I got turned on to Sturgill Simpson after an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and I have been wearing out his album "Meta-modern Sounds in Country Music" on my iPod ever since.
