Prize Foundation Announces Inaugural Startup Prize Energy Event
To say exciting things are happening in Shreveport is a massive understatement. Fresh off a record-breaking crowd of healthcare entrepreneurs for Startup Prize: Health, the innovative minds at the Prize Foundation are shifting gears.
In partnership with Louisiana Innovation (LA.IO) and the Future Use of Energy in Louisiana (FUEL), they are kicking off the inaugural Startup Prize: Energy in downtown Shreveport this weekend, June 26th through the 28th. The high-stakes, conference-style qualifier features two distinct tracks: Electricity and Hydrocarbons/Fuels.
National experts and heavy-hitter investors are descending on the area to stress-test 24 brilliant startups. “Startup Prize: Health became a national beacon, and we are aiming for that same magic with energy,” says Gregory Kallenberg, founder of Startup Prize. “We were hoping for 16 startups, but we’ve signed up 24 companies from 11 states, and even one from Switzerland!”
From battery storage to alternative green fuels, these founders are utilizing Shreveport as a launchpad. The event beautifully nurtures homegrown talent while proving our city is a premier destination for national business migration.
Finalists will be announced in July, advancing to the intense "Final Final" matches in August. There, they face rigorous questioning from investor judges for a $10,000 cash prize per track. But in true Prize Fest fashion, that is just the small change. Every investor in the room has the green light to fund any company they believe in.
Once again, the Prize Foundation isn't just hosting an event, they are showcasing Shreveport’s open-for-business goodness and reshaping Louisiana’s economic future right from our backyard.
