S’port/Bossier Would Be Even Better If We Had These Places
Recently I read an article about a number of die-hard fans doing everything possible to stop the impending demolition of Fairgrounds Field.
I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed with their passion. I love that these people long for those nights in the beer garden as we cheered on our beloved Shreveport Captains while kids played "wall ball" or rolled around on the grassy hills.
However, it would appear the conversation is somewhat moot, in that we don't even have a minor league team interested in taking over the old field, if the demolition was called off.
But, could that field be part of a bigger picture?
A friend and I were talking about how incredible The Ball Fields of Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, are, and that it would be really a great idea for someone to take the old Fairgrounds Field and some of that immediately adjacent area and create something of that nature.
Just imagine, a complex with a "Featured Field" along with a score of additional fields to hold baseball and softball tournaments. As big as these events are in hosts of other cities, this could be one of the biggest entertainment ideas to hit the area since the first season of the Shreveport/Bossier Mudbugs.
That idea spawned a line of thinking that had me running down a number of rabbit holes pondering the "What If's" for our area.
What if we had this, or what if we had that? Even though I contend this is still an incredible place to live, I wonder how much better it would be if we had a number of other entertainment options.
So, with that in mind, take a look at "Places We Need Most in Shreveport/Bossier City" and see if we missed anything you think would be a must for the area.
