Shreveport Traffic: I-49 Southern Loop Ramp Closing Monday
Traffic throughout Shreveport/Bossier will certainly be less than optimal next week.

Along with the announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development of a number of bridge and ramp closures throughout the area slated to run daily for the majority of the week, coupled with the ongoing I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City, DOTD has sent notification of another potential congestion issue.
Drivers in the southern part of Caddo Parish need to be aware that beginning Monday, July 7, the I-49 southbound exit ramp at the Southern Loop interchange will be closed daily from approximately 7:00 am to 2:00 pm through July 31.
As part of the ongoing project at this interchange, DOTD will need to close this ramp in order to construct the new adjacent lane.
DOTD is addressing the need for increased traffic capacity at this exit ramp to improve safety by decreasing congestion and back-ups, particularly during peak travel times.
Future intermittent ramp closures may be necessary as the project progresses, and those will be posted on message boards ahead of the construction site, as well as at the DOTD website and Louisiana 511 Travel Advisory website/mobile app.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in Fall 2025, weather and other factors permitting.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
