Shreveport’s Trent Taylor Set to Start for Bengals on Sunday

The Shreveport native will make his Cincinnati Bengals debut with a starting role this Sunday.

Trent Taylor's road to starting for the Bengals in week 16 of the 2021-2022 season has been a long and winding one, to say the very least.

Trent became a Louisiana high school football legend while dominating the gridiron at Evangel Christian Academy. From there, we went on to become one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play football for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. When it was all said and done for Trent in Ruston, he grabbed the record for most career receptions at the school, while trailing only Troy Edwards in career touchdowns and receiving yards. Naturally, the NFL was calling the following season when the draft rolled around. The 49ers were technically the team calling, drafting Trent in the fifth round of the 2017 draft.

His rookie season exceeded most expectations of the 5'8" wideout from Shreveport. Sadly his time with the 49ers was riddles with unfortunate injuries and setbacks that ultimately led him to becoming a free agent in 2021.

Knowing Trent that way that I do, I knew that he would battle and come back stronger, bigger, and better than before.

He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals during the offseason, where he was the darling of Bengals' off-season, with any and every reporter writing articles about his impressive start in the Bengals uniform.

Sadly, due to a stacked group of wide receivers, Trent was placed on the practice squad once the season began. For the last fifteen weeks, Trent has been working harder than ever, and staying healthy, patiently waiting for his opportunity.

This week, that opportunity has finally arrived and we can't wait to watch Trent back in action. Trent will be the starting punt returner for the Bengals when they take on the Ravens in a crucial AFC matchup this Sunday at noon.
