Update: According to Monjunis of Portico's FB, they were not aware of this lawsuit and never agreed to be apart of said suit. The post also states that their establishment is very much pro-mask wearing.

A Caddo District Court Judge has temporarily stopped Shreveport's mask mandate.

Easily the biggest story of the week has now taken an unprecedented turn. As you all know, on Monday of this week, Mayor Adrian Perkins issued a mask mandate for the city of Shreveport. The mandate went into effect at 5:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon. The order itself was met with both support and criticism, as are most things that become heavily politicized.

Now, less than 48 hours after the mandate went into effect, it is now unenforceable for the time being. After five Shreveport business owners filed an injunction against the city of Shreveport and Mayor Adrian Perkins, Judge Craig Marcotte has granted a restraining order against the mandate. The judge's order means that effective immediately, the city of Shreveport cannot enforce its mask mandate, and cannot conduct any searches of businesses or take any action whatsoever against Shreveport businesses.

According to KTBS, Perkins has until 5:00 PM on July 16th to respond. After Mayor Perkins inevitably responds, the plaintiffs will have until 5:00 PM on July 17th to reply.

Shreveport's mask mandate has been stopped temporarily, effective immediately. Whether it will return or not will be decided on July 20th at the earliest, when the court hearing takes place. That hearing will determine if the temporary restraining order will be converted to a preliminary injunction.

The five local businesses listed as the plaintiffs in the lawsuit are:

Strawn's Eat Shop Too

Monjuni's of Portico

Air U Shreveport

The Brain Train
