Truth be told, most of us have grown so accustomed to the traffic delays on I-20 throughout Shreveport and Bossier that one more issue really isn't going to matter that much.

The latest announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will affect nighttime drivers on I-20 through the twin cities, but for the most of us, it's essentially just business as usual.

While not downplaying these inconveniences, we've all pretty much come to grips with the fact that I-20 will continue to be problematic through the entirety of the reconstruction phase, so the fact that DOTD has other repairs to handle at this time won't prove too shocking.

In their announcement, DOTD advises all motorists that the following nighttime lane/ramp closures have been scheduled along I-20 in Shreveport and Bossier City for the purpose of crash attenuator repair.

  • I-20 westbound to Spring Street (Exit 19A) – ramp closure
  • I-20 westbound to Common St/Louisiana Ave (Exit 18-D) – ramp closure
  • I-20 westbound on-ramp from Traffic Street – lane closure

These closures will take place from approximately 8:00 pm next Tuesday, April 22 and reopen no later than 6:00 am on Wednesday, April 23.

Of course this work will be performed "weather permitting" so inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
