A deadly shooting on September 4, 2021 left a 13-year-old Shreveport teen dead and three other young people wounded.

13-year-old Kelvonte Daigre died in this violent event. Two other teens suffered life threatening wounds. Another teen was grazed by a bullet.

The shooting happened on a Saturday night at Bert Kouns and Millicent Way. One person was charged in this case.

Ikerryunta Stewart, 17, is charged with second-degree murder. He also faces eight counts of attempted first-degree murder of eight other people that night, including three other youths ages 5, 15, and 16. At least seven of the eight attempted first-degree murder victims were innocent bystanders merely waiting for the red light to change or otherwise traveling through the intersection.

In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, Stewart is also charged with illegal use of a dangerous weapon and resisting an officer with force or violence.

Ikerryunta Stewart can be tried as an adult under provisions of Louisiana Children’s Code Article 305, which allows a District Attorney to have jurisdiction of certain juvenile offenders age 15 or older transferred to District Court.  The Grand Jury will review all the charges. If indicted for second-degree murder, Ikerryunta Stewart faces a sentence of life in prison at hard labor without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
