Cara Watson is a Shreveport resident that is on her way to Hollywood as part of American Idol Season 13!  We'll be rooting her on next week when the Hollywood rounds begin.

Cara earned her golden ticket auditioning in Atlanta.  She says she wants to take her singing career to the next level.  Even though the judges were critical of her performance, she says the audition process was exciting.  Among Cara's musical influences are Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson.  Watson says she's the next American Idol because of her determination and hard work, she also feels like America will love her style and voice.

Cara performed locally in the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse stage production of "Fame" and Erin McCarty was able to find a review her performance locally in the show by the Academy of Children’s Theater on a Shreveport blogspot. "X Factor" contestant ‘Willie’ Trey Jones was also a part of the production.

Shreveport/Bossier City has proven to be a hotbed of musical talent with Shreveport native Willie Jones appearing on The X Factor USA as well as Dez Duron and Cole Vosbury on The Voice. It just goes to show that the Shreveport/Bossier City area is special and packed full of untapped talent!

American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm CST on KMSS Fox 33.
