Caddo Parish Animal Services April 18 Clinic: Everything You Need to Know

For years, the Shreveport and Caddo Parish communities have faced a daunting challenge, a surging population of stray and unwanted animals driven by a lack of access to spay and neuter services.

However, the tide is beginning to turn. Through consistent community outreach and preventative care programs, local officials are finally seeing a measurable difference in the health and safety of our neighborhoods.

Continuing this momentum, the Caddo Parish Department of Animal Services and Mosquito Control is proud to announce a free drive-thru clinic offering rabies vaccinations and microchipping for pets of Parish residents.

This initiative is designed to protect the area’s pet population and provide essential resources to families who may otherwise face financial barriers to veterinary care.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Summer Grove Baptist Church, located at 8924 Jewella Ave, Shreveport, LA 71118.

To ensure the safety of both staff and participants, the clinic will operate as a drive-thru. One-year rabies vaccinations will be available for dogs, cats, and ferrets. These services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so pet owners are encouraged to arrive early.

In addition to vaccinations and microchipping, the department is committed to long-term community education. Staff will be on-site to provide handouts regarding low-cost spay and neuter services, as well as critical information on mosquito and heartworm prevention. By addressing the root causes of animal overpopulation and disease, Caddo Parish continues to build a safer, more compassionate environment for all residents, two-legged and four-legged alike.
