The Shreveport Police Department’s Traffic Unit will conduct a seatbelt checkpoint beginning on March 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., hours and end at 5:00 p.m. This will be a collaborative effort with the Louisiana State Police and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office

The checkpoint will target drivers who are not wearing occupant protection devices but is not limited to seatbelt offenses only. Officers working this safety checkpoint will use spotters to identify drivers that are not in compliance with the State’s occupant protection laws.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission as part of the continuing effort to help curb the number of drivers who take to the streets each day and choose not to wear an occupant protection device, putting themselves and others at risk of serious bodily injury or death.

Be sure to buckle up for safety.
