Shreveport Police Looking For Double Robbery Suspect
Detectives with the Shreveport Police are searching for a man suspected of committing a pair of robberies at two east Shreveport businesses over a two day period.
One robbery occurred just after 11:30 AM on April 24, 2017. Shreveport Police were called to the Brookshires grocery store located in the 500 block of Kings Highway on a robbery call at the business. Officers spoke with witnesses to the crime, and they learned a man dressed in dark pants and a white t-shirt with black long sleeves entered the business and made his way to a cashier working at a register.
Cpl. Marcus Hines, spokesman for the SPD tells us what happened next and about the second robbery this man is suspected of committing:
Once at the register, the man presented an item to the clerk as if he intended to pay for the merchandise. Once the man observed the clerk open the register, he reached over and stole an undetermined amount of money from the cash drawer. After making off with the stolen loot, the bandit ran from the store on foot in an unknown direction of travel. Authorities are releasing surveillance images of the suspect in efforts to obtain his identity. Police have reason to suspect the man responsible for the Brookshires robbery may also be linked to the previous day’s robbery of the Family Dollar discount store, located in the 500 block of Kings Highway. During that incident, the robber again presented merchandise to the clerk and waited until the cash drawer opened to steal monies from therein. Witnesses did not report seeing a weapon in either case; however, the description of the suspect in both matters is strikingly similar.
Anyone with any information about either crime is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at www.lockemup.org.
