On May 5th, 2023, at 3:11 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a call from a female saying she was being threatened by a man with a gun in the 3800 block of Oak Crest Street. On arrival, the responding officers learned that a male identified as James Perot (12-19-2002) reportedly had beaten the woman and then threatened her at gunpoint.

Officers found that Perot had been threatening her while armed with a gun. The victim also had injuries consistent with the statement given. Perot was charged with one count of Aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of aggravated domestic abuse, one count of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, and one count of property damage.

We must remind that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

During this Investigation, officers also encountered Javis Perot (11-22-99) and found him to possess a firearm. Further investigation into the matter revealed that Javis Perot was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for prior felony offenses.

The firearm and narcotics were seized by the officers and Javis Perot was arrested for one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
