On April 26th, 2023, Shreveport Police Patrol Officers responded to a vehicle parked in the roadway at Fairfax Avenue and Morningside Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon the arrival of patrol officers, the victim was located suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside of the vehicle. Shreveport Fire Department was notified and upon arrival pronounced deceased the victim.

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives collected evidence and obtained probable cause to show that Edduin Silva Alvarez (5-9-04) was responsible for the murder of the victim. An arrest warrant was secured charging Alvarez with one count of Second-Degree Murder.

On May 3, 2023, the Shreveport Police Special Response Team was activated to conduct a search for Alvarez. Alvarez was arrested for the murder after attempting to flee and subsequently was also charged with Resisting an officer with Force or Violence

Investigation into this case is ongoing. We are required by law to state that all persons are innocent until proven guilty.

While Shreveport has continued to release FBI UCR data, Bossier City has not released information since.
