A couple of Shreveport guys are competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England. But one has already lost. Ryan Harrison, 20, of Shreveport kicked off the Olympic tennis event against a guy from Colombia, Santiago Giraldo, early Saturday morning in a singles match.
According to the Associated Press and the Shreveport Times, Harrison lost 7-5 and 6-3 and then slammed his racket to the ground.

The event was held on Court 14 on the gass courts of Wimbledon.
Harrison was ranked No. 52 while Giraldo was No. 43. It's the first time Harrison has ever competed in the Olympics and the only sport he will play.

Harrison last month made it to the second round of Wimbledon. According to AP, he was the youngest player on the United States team.

Another Shreveport native will be in competition in the weightlifting on August 3rd. Kendrick Farris is on a team of 11 lifters. He finished eighth in Beijing in 2008.
