Who Do You Support in the Race for Mayor of Shreveport? POLL
The Shreveport Mayor's race kicks off full steam ahead today. Qualifying wrapped up on Friday and 10 candidates have signed up to run for the top job in the city. There was a surprise late in the day on Friday when city council woman LeVette Fuller signed up to run for the city's top job. Her entry into the field will cause quite a shakeup.
Fuller is expected to draw support from the two leading democratic contenders, incumbent Mayor Adrian Perkins and longtime State Senator Greg Tarver who made his decision to jump into the race last week.
Former Shreveport city councilman Tom Arceneaux is expected to be the top contender from the Republican party while Caddo Commissioner Mario Chavez has been working to gain support across all political and demographic lines. He's running as a No Party candidate.
Libertarian Lauren Ray Anderson, Democrat Tracy Mendels, Independent “Julius” Romano, Republican Melvin Slack, Jr., and Democrat Darryl R. Ware II also signed up to run for mayor.
Let us know who you are supporting right now. Do you have a favorite in the race yet, or do you want to hear more from the candidates.
Election Day is November 8. December 10th is the runoff election for the top two contenders.
The YMCA is hosting a forum of the Mayoral candidates on Thursday from 6:30-8pm at the BHP YMCA branch on Knight Street. It’s free and open to the public.
