SHREVEPORT, LA- In a joint effort, SPD Officers and City Marshal Deputies arrest armed felon

On August 19th, 2023, around 12:32 a.m. Shreveport Police Officers and City Marshal Deputies were working together in Downtown Shreveport when they observed a vehicle driving recklessly through downtown Shreveport. When the vehicle almost hit pedestrians officers conducted a traffic stop at Market Street and Lake Street.

Upon contact with the driver officers reportedly were alerted to signs that the driver was intoxicated and armed with a firearm. Officers also observed two children in the back seat of the vehicle. A Shreveport Police Officer and City Marshal Deputy instructed the man to exit the vehicle however he refused and physically resisted officers. After a brief struggle, the officers were able to take the driver into custody.

Officers found that the armed man was Jecorey Harris (8-18-91). Officers seized a firearm and a large amount of narcotics from Harris’ possession. Through investigation, it was found that Harris was also believed to be operating the vehicle under the influence.

Further investigation into the matter revealed that Harris was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for multiple felony offenses. Harris was arrested on one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, one count of DWI third offense, Possession with intent to distribute Schedule One, resisting with force or violence, child desertion, possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, and multiple traffic offense.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
