Over the past few weeks, music fans across the world have been keeping up with the latest updates on legendary guitarist James Burton.  James Burton revealed on social media in September that he was diagnosed with kidney cancer.

The 83 year old musician underwent surgery at Nashville's Vanderbilt Hospital the first week of October, and asked his fans to "pray for complete healing."  And Wednesday Burton announced that his doctor at Vanderbilt proclaimed him cancer free.

Shreveport's iconic Burton, who now lives in Nashville, is probably best know as lead guitar for Elvis during the latter stages of Elvis's career. But Burton had already had an envious resume before ever taking the stage with the King.  Here's James knocking out a solo on Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou."

Throughout his career, in addition to be a highly sought after studio guitarist, Burton has played with some of the top names in the music industry, including The Everly Brothers, Glen Campbell, John Denver, Judy Collins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Joni Mitchell, Elvis Costello, and Roy Orbison.

Burton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.  In his introduction speech at the ceremony, Keith Richards famously proclaimed, "Let me put it this way.. I never bought a Ricky Nelson record, I bought a James Burton record."

According to Burton's Facebook post:

I will need an MRI test every 3 months and I still have a long road to recovery but YOUR PRAYERS we're heard by GOD

Thank You all & GOD BLESS YOU

I don't know much about candles but I wouldn't think there would be anything fun about them. That can't be said for the founder of Yankee Candle as his home is a vacation every day.
