A Shreveport firefighter is hurt early this morning while battling a fire in the MLK neighborhood. A portion of the roof started to collapse at the home on Bonnie Street. That's when the firefighter was hurt.

Fire Engine 6 arrived on the scene at 3:39AM and reported a single story wood frame home with heavy flames and smoke coming from the roof of the residence. Firefighters were able to enter the home through the front door and locate and extinguish the fire. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

15 firefighters worked to put out the blaze for nearly 20 minutes. The injured firefighter was treated on scene by paramedics and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This fire is still under investigation.
