A suspicious package on a busy stretch of roadway halted traffic during the Tuesday morning commute while the Shreveport Fire Department investigated.

Shreveport Fire Investigators were called to the intersection of Texas Street and Murphy around 8:50 AM by the Shreveport Police Department in reference to a suspicious package found by an officer. The area was blocked off for the safety of the public by the SPD. There were no evacuations necessary for any nearby businesses. The road closures did pose some minor issues reaching the Shreveport City Court building.

Members of the Shreveport Fire Department Bomb Squad used an x-ray machine to examine the package. They determined the package to be safe and posed no harm to the public. The package was rendered safe around 10:00 AM. The Shreveport Fire Department cleared the scene and re-opened the road just before 10:15 AM.
