On February 1st, 2023, at 9:38 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a shooting of a residence in the 1700 block of Avocado Drive.

Arriving officers found that a vehicle had been driven by a residence in the 1700 block of Avocado Drive and discharged a firearm at the victim and the victim’s family members. Multiple parked vehicles were also struck by gunfire.

Shortly after the shots were fired, members of the Shreveport Police Community Response Unit located the suspect traveling on Legardy Street. Community Response Units attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle however the vehicle fled and eventually crashed. Three occupants fled from the vehicle on foot but were quickly captured.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units were summoned to the scene. Through their ongoing investigation detectives were able to obtain information that led them to determine that the occupants of the vehicle, Elijah Bryant (12/19/2001), Maleak Henderson (10/04/2002), and a 17-year-old juvenile were believed responsible for the shooting. Multiple firearms were also recovered.

On February 2nd, 2023, Bryant and Henderson were booked in at the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted 1st-degree murder.
