I'm not sure how that question is answered in other parts of the world, but around here, that means it's time for a garage sale.

While most of these are "one day only", you occasionally see the larger multi-family sales that could go on for an entire three-day weekend, and for real bargain hunters, some of these feature those diamonds in the rough they truly seek.

However, while it's true that one man's trash is another man's treasure, it can equally be argued that one man's trash, is another man's trash.

There are a considerable number of items, that regardless of the price, should be avoided at garage sales or any thrift store for that matter.

A deal just isn't a deal if it compromises safety or the product was so inferior that it's quickly hauled to the trash dumpster soon after purchase.

These are things that are most often purchased new with the possibility of return to a known retailer in the event of a safety concern or the product's integrity is compromised.
